Can I use a wet suit for the swim?
Not if Lake Aububon is too warm. Here's the USAT rule:
4.4 Wet suits.
Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. ... participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can I join the Reston Triathlon?
The Reston Triathlon Association is a non-profit organization completely staffed with volunteers. Its sole purpose is to organize the event held the 2nd Sunday in September.

Does the Triathlon provide training sessions during the year?
No - the Reston Triathlon does not, but there is a club in Reston called RATS. This club started up in February 2001 and its purpose is to provide a chance for local Northern Virginia triathletes and other endurance athletes to get together and share ideas and train together. http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/trirats

Can I practice/train by swimming in the Reston lakes?
No, no swimming is allowed in the Reston lakes except on the day of the Triathlon or the official Triathlon Swim Clinic usually held in early September. Click for details.

Can I get on a waiting list?
There is no waiting list

How can I get a Triathlon T-shirt if I'm not in the race?
If you become a volunteer, you'll get an official Reston Triathlon Volunteer T-shirt and have fun, while helping to make the Triathlon possible. If you're considering entering a Triathlon in the future, volunteering is a great way to find out about more about the logistics of the race.
