Reston Triathlon Registration Information

Registration for the 2010 race is complete. The race is FULL. There is no waiting list.

Registration is first-come-first-served.

What: Individual Triathlon, NO RELAYS OR TEAMS Swim 1 mile, bike 22.3 miles, run 6.2 miles (10K)
When: Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 7:00 am NO RAIN DATE
Where: Lake Audubon, Reston, VA

Field limit: The field is limited to about 600. There is no waiting list.

Eligibility: Entrants must be at least 15 years old as of December 31 of the Triathlon year.
Age groups, male and female: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ Age classification is based on your age as of December 31 of the Triathlon year.

Time limits: The race must be completed in 4 hours. The swim course will close 1 hour and 15 minutes after the start of the last heat; the bike course will close 3 hours after the start of the last swim heat. The run course will close 4 hours after the start of the last swim heat.

You will be required to show identification and sign a waiver

Contributions.The Reston Triathlon, now in its 25th year, is a non-profit organization run by a board of directors composed entirely of volunteers. For safety and success, the race relies on local volunteers and organizations, including local boy and girl scout troops, high school track teams, police, medical and other personnel. A portion of each athlete's registration fee is donated to these groups to thank them for their efforts. If you would like to show your support for our local volunteers by donating an additional sum at registration you may click to designate a special gift for those groups.

USAT (USA Triathlon) membership is mandatory for acceptance into this race. One-day licenses are available as shown above. Annual applications are available from USAT on their web site: www.USATriathlon.org

No training in Lake Audubon: Swimming in all the Reston lakes is illegal except by permit. Training in Lake Audubon may jeopardize our use of the lake for the triathlon and the running of the triathlon. Therefore as a condition of the acceptance of your registration, the Reston Triathlon directors reserve the right to revoke the registration without refund for any triathlete violating this prohibition.

Cancellation: If the race or any portion of the race must be cancelled due to weather, unsafe lake conditions, or any other reason, there will be no refund of registration fees. Race packets and premiums will be distributed at packet pick up.

Packet Pick up : Location for packet pickup will be available on our website and will be announced with your race acceptance. Pickup will be from 11:00 am until 3:00 on the Saturday before the race. You must pick up your packet yourself. No one else can pick up your packet for you. Photo ID, and a valid USAT annual or one-day license are required to pick up your packet. There will be no packet pick up on race day. No substitutions or registration transfers are allowed. False entry under another person's name is an automatic lifetime ban from the Reston Triathlon and will be reported to USA Triathlon for appropriate USAT action.

Awards: Overall awards will be given to the top 3 men and women finishers and to the 1st and 2nd place Clydesdale (men 200+ lbs) and Athena (women 150+) divisons. Age group awards will be be given to the top 3 men and women in each age group.

Lodging: Many local options are available in Reston and are readily found by searching the internet. The Marriott Residence Inn on the corner of Elden Street and Herndon Parkway is offering a $59 rate for studio suites (Sept. 10-12). Included in this rate is a complimentary full breakfast buffet and free Internet.

Volunteers : We always need volunteers. It requires over 600 volunteers working before, during, and after the race to put on the Triathlon, If you aren't racing, consider volunteering.
