Event Info: Reston Triathlon

Packet Pickup

On Saturday, the day before the Sunday triathlon - 11:00am to 3:00pm - at South Lakes High School. You need to pick up your packet containing your race numbers, have your bike helmet checked, and pick up other pre-race information. You must pick up your packet in person and you must have a photo ID. (Substitutions are not allowed. Athletes involved in substitution will be permanently banned from the Reston Triathlon and reported to USA Triathlon).

You will be required to present your photo ID (No ID = No Race) and sign a waiver at packet pickup.
You must pick up your packet yourself. No one else can pick up your packet for you. Photo ID, and a valid USAT annual or one-day license are required to pick up your packet. There will be no packet pick up on race day.

Chip timing will be used for this race. Athletes who are using their own chips must bring them so the number can be verified.

If you cannot pick up your packet between 11-3 pm on Saturday, you must notify us in advance by e-mail or letter. Any exceptions must be approved in advance prior to packet pickup. There will be no race day packet pickup.

Since the Reston Triathlon is an event sanctioned by USA TRIATHLON you must bring your membership card along with a photo ID to packet pickup. Those who elect to use the one-day membership but have not paid for it will be charged $12 at pickup.

Race Day

To reduce traffic congestion on the thoroughfares of Reston and to get our bikes off the roads earlier in the day, the Triathlon will start promptly at 7:00 am at Lake Audubon on Twin Branches Road.

Wet Suits

This is the official USAT rule regarding wetsuits:
4.4 Wet suits. Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The wetsuit policy for elite athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes Advisory Council. The AAC has set the wetsuit maximum temperature for elite athletes at 68 degrees for swim distances less than 3000 meters and 71.6 degrees for distances of 3000 meters or greater.

Logistics

There will be no parking at the lake on race day, so you must park your vehicle in the parking lots at South Lakes High School located on South Lakes Drive at Langston Hughes Middle School lot or Ridge Heights Road.

Any vehicles parked on Twin Branches will be towed. You will drop off your bike/run transition gear at the high school and ride your bike to the lake, which is about one mile, wearing your bike helmet. All athletes should plan to be at the lake and ready to swim no later than 6:30 am.

Refunds
