Interesting Information about the Triathlon:
Two friendly competitors, Joe Stowers and Tom Conrad, were unable to compete for medical reasons. Joe had developed pneumonia and a blood infection, and Tom had fallen from his bike in August and broke his hip. Joe later had a knee replacement.

Many athletes are now coming from outside the area --often people who grew up in Reston and had moved away but who still want to do the Triathlon.
The race was timed by Set-Up Inc., a triathlon productions company. There is electronic chip timing now -- a long way from the early days of a bib spindle.
